GETRAG officially opened
GETRAG officially opened a state-of-the-art production site for GETRAG
PowerShift transmissions and motorcycle transmissions in the Industrial Zone of
Kechnec on November 22, 2007. It is the first site of the company and of
an independent transmission manufacturer worldwide to produce this new dual
clutch transmission technology – the GETRAG PowerShift technology.
Initially the company will produce 110,000 GETRAG PowerShift
transmissions and 100,000 motorcycle transmissions p.a. with
450 employees. Production capacity will reach 220,000 PowerShift
transmissions p.a. by 2010. Over the same period the plant will create further
300 employment opportunities primarily in technical fields.

The municipality’s memorial day
There is the time again when we commemorate deceased citizens of our
municipality who are buried at our cemetery and at the cemeteries in different
parts of Slovakia or in different countries of the world as well.
We invite you therefore to the municipality’s memorial day, which will
take place
on October 28, 2007 at 2pm.
This day will also enter into the history of Kechnec and will be noted down
in the chronicle of the municipality with golden letters. The reason will be
official consecrating and putting into operation new bell together with
bell-tower on the local cemetery. Memorial feast will traditionally be
accompanied by the act of laying wreaths, which are symbols of respect and
memory of all buried at the local cemetery.

Kechnec represents in Brussels
The Mayor of the Municipality of Kechnec, JUDr. Bc. Jozef Konkoly will
present the municipality, Industrial Zone Kechnec and the project of European
Integrated School in Brussels during the event OPEN DAYS, European week of
regions and cities, from October 8 – 11, 2007. It is a significant
honour to the long lasting and systematic effort of the Municipality of Kechnec
within the complete development of the self government.
New X-Ray machine purchased
The SPP Foundation donated 5 mil. SKK to the Kechnec
Municipality, for technological equipment of the Social-medical complex, which
the medical center used for purchasing the state-of-the-art X-Ray machine. The
X-Ray machine will serve for the pulmonary, orthopedic and surgical departments.
The Kechnec Municipality continues successfully in constructing the 2nd phase
of the Social-medical complex. The in-patient clinic is growing next to the
already open medical center and it will contain 30 beds for the hospital
purposes, 10 beds for geriatric patients and 86 beds for the
retirement house. The new building will include also a surgery room and
intensive care unit for the after-surgery care with related background support
and technological equipment.
KUENZ-SK considers the 3rd phase of investment
In the plant of the Austrian company Künz the construction of the
factory building No. 3 and technical background’s building are going to be
to be completed. This means the company has invested in the Industrial
zone Kechnec approximately 8,3 million EUR, which is
1,5 million EUR more than the amount initially planned. Currently the
construction of another factory building for products over 150m long is being
planned. As Dipl. Ing. Hynek Weiss the executive of KUENZ-SK said, the longest
product designed and produced in the Industrial zone Kechnec until now was 34m
long and had weight of 56MT.
KECHNEC DAYS
In the sports area of Kechnec, the Kechnec days took place from
June 29 till June 30. Eventful programme was arranged and it included
artists like Peter Nagy with the music band, Martin Kraus, funny band Ščamba
or famous country group Vagabonds. During the Kechnec days the visitors had
a chance to watch the premiere programme of the traditional chorus
Čarnica at the occasion of its 50th birthday. The international competition
in cooking took place on Saturday and there was a fireworks in the perpetual
clock.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THE LOCAL TELEVISIONS
On Friday, June 15, 2007 the ceremonial closing of the 13th
international festival of the local televisions took place in the sports
area. Over an hundred participants saw unique woodcarving works at the local
cemetery and Industial Zone of Kechnec within the program.
Children's Day in Kechnec
On Saturday, July 2, 2007 from 9:00 to 13:00, sports area in
Kechnec was livened up by children's laugh and shout. Children from the
overall neighborhood of Kechnec came to celebrate “their” big day. The
Children's Day. Football pitch was full of the young football players
and those who are not the football fans could take part in the interesting
competitions or watch the program. The interest of both children and parents was
grabbed by the motorcycles Yamaha and as well as the presentation of the art of
battle Tai Kwon Do. All visitors were pleased by the opportunity to get
autographs from the hockey players from HC Košice. In the end, as it is on the
real celebration all the children received the packet with sweets and a gift.
Schelling Slovakia open
On Friday, May 4, the plant of Schelling Slovakia, a member
of the Austrian manufacturer of cut-to-size plants Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH was
festively open in the Industrial Zone Kechnec. The new plant will produce mainly
components for the product range of Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH and their partners
(Alpla, Mawera, etc.).
Czech delegation
During their foreign business trip Ivan Adamec, Chairman
of the Committee of the Senate of Czech Republic, Igor Petrov,
Vice Chairman, Vítězslav Jonáš, Member of the Committee,
Ivana Večeřová, Secretary of the Committee and Mr.
Jozef Kaňa as representative of the Assembly of the Czech
Embassy in Bratislava, visited the Municipality of Kechnec and industrial zone
in Kechnec on April 25, 2007.
Padovani Group
Padovani Group announces having acquired a site in the “Industrial Zone
Kechnec”, Republic of Slovakia, where it plans to set up its fourth fully owned
Tinplate Service Centre with a processing capacity of 25’000 MT, aiming
at sales of over € 20 million during the first year, with the
intention to duplicate these figures during the second and subsequent years. The
total investment will reach 5 mil. EUR and the company plans to employ
app. 30 people.
The Zone Kechnec has acquired another investor
The Doppelmayr Company, world producer of ropeway technologies,
plans to expand in the Industrial Zone Kechnec. The Company and the Kechnec
Municipality signed a purchasing agreement for the lot with a total area of
8.2 ha on December 22, 2006. Investments should reach 6.3 mil. EUR
by 2010. At the same time, Doppelmayr plans to employ app.
30 employees.
MISSION FROM ROMANIA VISITED KECHNEC
On Friday, February 23, 2007 the mission from Romania will visited
the Kechnec Municipality and the Industrial Zone Kechnec. Goal of the visit were
to share experiences related to overall development of Municipality. Honorary
Consul of the Slovak Republic to western Romania Miroslav Jabloncsik,
Prefect of the District Ilie Bolojan, Mayor of the Town of Madaras Dan
Tiurbe, 5 local members of parliament and the secretary will
participate in the visit.
2 % Income Tax Assignation
Also you can assign 2 % of your income tax to the Municipal Association
of Residents for Physical Culture, Education, Health and Environment Protection
in Kechnec.
It is a civic association active in the Municipality of Kechnec, focused
on supporting projects serving not only to residents of the Municipality of
Kechnec, but also to all persons employed within the Industrial Zone of Kechnec.
This association supports in particular the development of the Social &
Health Complex in the Municipality of Kechnec, which is essential for providing
prompt medical care for all those needing it. Furthermore, it supports projects
focused on quality and development of education, as well as various other
projects for the benefit of our residents.
Documents for assigning 2 % of income tax:
New Municipal Vehicles
The Municipality bought vehicles by which it can provide communal waste
disposal, cleaning and maintenance of local roads, cleaning and maintenance of
the sewage system, chipping of branches and other services. The new equipment in
the total amount of 25 mil. SKK will serve also for the winter maintenance
of local and access roads.
These services can be provided also to companies interested in maintenance
of industrial areas (snow removal, graveling). For more information please
