Seminar on the European Integrated School in Kechnec was held on
Friday, 16 October, 2009. Municipality of Kechnec organized it with
the support of the British Ambassador to Slovakia, His Excellency Mr Michael
Roberts.

THE INTEGRATED EUROPEAN SCHOOL IN KECHNEC
The representatives of the Kechnec Municipality plan to build the Integrated
European School (IES) in the southern cadastre of Kechnec. The goal of the
project is to create opportunities for preparation of qualified employees
reflecting the needs of the Industrial Zone Kechnec.
The school would create opportunities for education in foreign languages for
students as well as families of foreign investors and for education on the
international level for the whole surrounding region (developing the
cross-boarder cooperation with nearby Hungary). Focus of the school will be more
practical than theoretical. The management of the school would closely cooperate
with individual companies from the IZ Kechnec, and experts of the companies
could actively participate in the educational process of the school. The
companies would also contribute up-to-date technological equipment. The exchange
stays of students would also be a part of the education and the school would
organize them in partnership with similar schools abroad.
The Integrated European School would offer education in foreign languages –
English, German, and French. A student could start from the kindergarten
level and within one institution he or she could follow up to the university
level.
The school will include the following facilities:
- Multipurpose classrooms, laboratories for research,
- Pool with sauna,
- Kitchen with dining hall for 800 to 1000 boarders,
- Dormitory for students,
- Barrier-free access,
- Gym and other sporting facilities,
- Kindergarten,
- Library and computer room,
- Pediatrics department,
- Central parking – 30 parking lots.
KINDERGARTEN
Currently, the kindergarten in Kechnec has 42 children in age of two to
five years. Children are divided into two classrooms and supervised by four
teachers. Thanks to the Kechnec Town Hall, managing institution, the
kindergarten can enjoy newly constructed premises and its further extension is
planned in the near future. There are also English lessons on Mondays and
Thursdays.
